THE DOSE BETWEEN
The photographic series “The Dose Between” emerged from Wurtinger´s work in an intensive care unit. It explores the quiet yet powerful role of medication within the process of healing. In an environment where communication is often reduced to monitors, lab results, and clinical procedures, medication becomes more than a means of treatment, it becomes a symbolic connection between the medical staff and the patient’s relatives.
When patients are sedated, intubated, and unable to speak, medication can often be the only visible sign of change. For families, these visual cues may offer the only tangible sense of progress.
